Peach Transformation

A major impediment to the genetic engineering and precision breeding in peaches has been the inability to transform peaches. Having no tools to specifically alter the DNA composition of the fruit, has left all new trait work in peaches in the hands of conventional breeders.

OSF has achieved success in developing a peach transformation system; however, the efficiency of this technique is still problematic. This means we can now begin work on introducing new genetic traits in peaches and develop new, unique peach varieties. This proprietary transformation know-how continues to evolve as we improve its efficiency and methods.  The work has been directed towards PPV inhibition in peaches and plans to target both mealiness inhibition in peaches and the introduction of the non-browning trait in peaches.
